Optimizing your drives can help your PC run smoother, boot up faster and eliminate sluggish performance.
Windows is usually set to optimize your drives on schedule but will often miss the schedule if the system is busy.
It is recommended to defragment your mechanical hard drives HDD once a month, or even once per week if you are a heavy user and you have Windows installed on the HDD
This is less crucial for SSD's, as the way data is written/read to/from SSD drives is different
But should still be done regularly and is called trim for SSD & NVMe drives
To optimize Drives:

Select the search bar on the taskbar and enter defrag.

Select Defragment and Optimize Drives
- Or open Windows Explorer locate one of the drives under This PC , right click and choose Properties, then Tools, then Optimize

Select the disk drive you want to optimize.

Select the Optimize button.
- Depending on the size of your drive, this may take a little time to complete
